Vacancy as student assistant (m,f,d)

The IKDG is looking for a motivated and reliable student assistant to support research on flow phenomena in wheel side chambers of axial gas turbines, especially with regard to hot gas intake. The research will be supported numerically in parallel to the reconstruction of a turbine test rig. Support is sought in both areas. The focus is on numerics. On the numerical level, the tasks lie on CFD models (creation of computational grids, incorporation of different modeling approaches, etc.), automation of the calculation and evaluation routines. Here, further development is done on existing pre-work. The experimental part of the job offers a wide range of tasks from the design of test bench components and mechanical design to the supervision of commissioning of subsystems. In addition, old measurement data are available, which require processing for proper analysis.

The basis of the employment is an average weekly workload of approximately 8 hours. The areas of responsibility are:

  • Support numerical investigation of wheel side space flow
    • CFD model
    • Automated calculation and evaluation
  • Design and construction of test bench components
  • Support of measurements / commissioning
  • Further analysis of existing measurement data also with the help of numerical calculations
