Selected Topics of Turbomachinery

This course deals with current challenges in the field of turbomachinery and energy technologies. The lectures are held by decent speakers of industry, research and politics.

This course is rotationally organized by the Institute of Jet Propulsion and Turbomachinery (IST) and the Institute oft Power Plant Technology, Steam and Gas Turbines (IKDG). According to the rotational schedule, the lecture is given by Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Manfred Wirsum (IKDG) in the winter semester 18/19.

The main course language is German.

 

Topic of the lecture series in WS 2018/19:

Hydrogen: A pillar of the energy and mobility transition?

The lecture series will discuss whether and how hydrogen as an energy carrier can play a role in a future decarbonized energy supply system. These central questions will be examined from the point of view of different actors from industry, academia and politics. The focus of the lecture series is on technologies for the production and storage of hydrogen, the supply of electricity and heat by using hydrogen and the use of hydrogen in industry and mobility.

The lecture series is explicitly not only aimed at students but also at employees of RWTH Aachen University and an interested public. Admission is free of charge.

The introductory lecture will take place on October 24th 2018 from 5:30 pm to 7 pm in the lecture hall HKW 2 (Wüllnerstraße 1). If you have any questions regarding the event, please contact Thomas Bexten at any time. Directions are available in the official flyer.
