Energy Conversion Technology

 

This course features a comprehensive introduction into energy systems. During the semester, the conversion chain starting from various energy resources to the most important forms of end-energy are covered.

Therefore, the required machines are presented. The individual application of such technologies is discussed by consideration of their characteristics for different operation regimes and load levels.

Moreover, the interaction of these machines with the existing and future energy system is shown. Special focus is given to system design and operation challenges of complex branched systems.

Finally, the course deals with environmental aspects. Here, energy-related emissions, their legislative binding limits and the possibilities of their avoidance on both, local and global level, are discussed.
