Vacancy as Student Assistant

Support for the construction and operation of a turbine test stand, especially in the context of measurement technology

The Institute of Power Plant Technology, Steam and Gas Turbines (IKDG) is rebuilding a turbine test rig that was previously used to investigate hot gas intake in the wheel side chambers of axial gas turbines. This test rig will now be modified to measure an extended operating range for a more realistic representation of the flow in the wheel side chambers of stationary and mobile gas turbines. In addition to increasing the relevant flow parameters, a large number of different axial gap widths will be investigated experimentally.

The mechanical setup of the test rig has been completed to a large extent. The IKDG now needs support for the remaining mechanical setups and especially for the metrological setup.

For this purpose, the IKDG is looking for a motivated, dedicated and reliable student assistant on the basis of an average weekly working time of about 14 hours. The areas of responsibility are:

  • Support of constructions (e.g., small piping, connection of sealing air, etc.)
  • Creation/further development of the measurement concept
  • Execution of test measurements and calibrations
  • Software-based measurement data acquisition and processing

Your profile

  • Motivation and commitment
  • Independent, reliable way of working
  • Knowledge of turbomachinery and flow measurement technology desirable
