The Institute of Power Plant Technology, Steam and Gas Turbines (IKDG) at RWTH Aachen University is involved in the modeling and analysis of innovative energy supply systems including renewabe energy sources. Another focus lies on numerical and experimental research projects in close cooperation with industry for the investigation and optimization of turbomachinery.
In the experimental field, the IKDG is characterized by the operation of several large-scale test rigs for the investigation of turbomachinery. Research topics include heat transfer studies on turbochargers, vibration studies on turbine blades, aerodynamic testing of centrifugal compressors and combustion chamber tests with hydrogen. To strengthen our experimental team, the IKDG is looking for a Software Developer to develop software solutions for measurement data acquisition and data processing at our large-scale test benches.
The main focus of your activities will be the development of software solutions for data acquisition and data processing at various turbomachinery test benches. The majority of the programs will be developed in LabView environment, further knowledge in programming languages like C++ and Python is desirable.
The goal is to use synergies between different test benches through modular programming and to create uniform program structures. Your activities will range from measurement value acquisition, online data evaluation and sensor monitoring to the evaluation and visualization of measurement results. You will be responsible for the sustainable development and central administration of the institute's internal programs for data acquisition.
The establishment of a new program structure offers great creative freedom and the opportunity for individual commitment. In the long term, there is the option to expand the field of activity beyond the advertised scope.
We are looking for a programmer with a completed education as mathematical technical software developer or a completed study in the field of computer science/ software development/ electrical engineering or similar. (FH or comparable).
